CTRN Board of Director Roles

PRESIDENT & CHAIR

The President and Chair is accountable for setting and executing the strategy that is aligned to the mission and vision of the Calgary Total Rewards Network. President and Chair ensures that Board initiatives remain relevant to the membership and to the future growth and sustainability of the association. Responsibilities includes but not limited to; presiding at all membership meetings and Board of Director meetings, public communications in support of the association, and liaising with the organizations partners.

PAST PRESIDENT

The Past President provides expertise and advice to the President and Board of Directors regarding past practices and other matters to assist in the transition of the newly elected President.  The Past President supports the President and the Board of Directors as needed.

TREASURER

The Treasurer is the principal accounting Director of the CTRN and is responsible for the finances and bookkeeping for the Network.  This role is responsible for the funds and securities of the Network, and for the receipt and disbursement of funds related to the business activities of the network.

SECRETARY

The Secretary is responsible for keeping and maintaining the records and documentation of the CTRN, other than financial records.  The incumbent of this role ensures that all rules and bylaws of the Network are adhered to by the Board during meetings and the implementation of Board decisions.  The Secretary is also responsible for keeping minutes for scheduled Board meetings as well as for the Annual General Meeting of the membership.

DIRECTOR, EVENTS

The Director, Events is responsible for the planning, communication and execution of memorable and engaging events for CTRN members.  Liaisons with sponsor members in developing and scheduling events that will provide educational and relevant content to membership.  Works with corporate businesses looking to present to the membership.  Handles the logistics to ensure smooth execution of events.

DIRECTOR, EDUCATION

The Director, Education is responsible for overseeing the World at Work courses and determines the annual course calendar based on the needs of the membership.  Accountable for promoting and marketing educational events to current and prospective members.  

DIRECTOR, SOCIAL MEDIA

Responsible for the maintenance and management of content and communication on Social Media platforms utilized by the Calgary Total Rewards Network.  Accountability includes overseeing consistent branding and messaging for content on the CTRN Social Media pages as well as communications distributed to current and prospective members.  Instrumental in the execution of the CTRN's online marketing strategy.

DIRECTOR, STRATEGY

Works with the President to develop the short and long term strategy for the CTRN.  Responsible for the developing, communicating and executing the strategic initiatives.  Collaborates with Board of Directors to ensure the effective execution of strategic initiatives.

DIRECTOR, PROJECTS

This role provides leadership and oversight of board-mandated projects as they relate to the strategic direction and day-to- day activities of the association.  Project initiatives vary from year-to- year dependent on the planned focus of the network, the membership needs, and strategic initiatives. The portfolio will assist with major web site development initiatives, community outreach, and mentorship programs.

DIRECTOR, MEMBERSHIP

Responsible for the tracking of membership within the network.  Works to develop initiatives to increase new membership and retention of current members.  Responsible for the annual membership drive.
